News & Events - Skyzone 1998 to 2001

Sky Wu definitely knows how to capture the hearts of his Singapore fans, many of whom have been his faithful followers since he stepped into the industry 12 years ago. He treats his dear fans to a marvellous gig when he was in town recently.

While numerous stars would give Singapore a miss during their promotional tours due to its small population, Sky Wu seeks to think differently. He has never failed to include the Lion City as one of his round-the-world promotional stop since his first album. It is no exception with the launch of his new compilation album Sharing With Sky.

The Taiwanese singer cum composer was in town over the weekend to promote his new compilation album Sharing With Sky as well as the Community Chest's Share programme and. Grabbing the opportunity, y.e.s. 933FM played host and invited the warm and sincere Taiwanese to present an unplugged concert for his fans on April 29.

Loosely translated as "Sharing With Sky Wu, 1988 - 2000", the gig was held to showcase the Taiwanese singer cum composer's work over his 12 years in the industry.

Over 200 fans who had exchanged for free admission with the purchase of Sky's new album or won the tickets through y.e.s. 933FM flooded every corner of the venue Hard Rock Café. A check with the first person in queue under the scorching hot sun was a petite lady who revealed that she and her friends were there since 10:30am even though the gig is scheduled to start at 3pm. Wow! A die-hard fan indeed!

Although this is not a paid performance, one can tell that Sky Wu still gave his best shot at the show! Fans had a fabulous time reminiscing over eight of his past hits that include Ai Yao Ze Me Suo (How To Say Love), Ji Mo Gong Lu (Lonely Highway), Ai Yu Chou (Love and Sorrow), Yi Ban (Half), Fen Xiang (Share). Two lucky guys were also picked to sing along with him in You Meng You Peng You (Dreams and Friends). Sky's singing was accompanied by a live band while he tried his hands on the keyboard for a couple of songs too.

The witty crosstalks between the emcee - y.e.s. 933FM DJ Mary and Sky often brought hilarious laughter into the audiences. It was particularly entertaining when Sky went into a self-mockery mode and laughed at how "stone" his showmanship was when he first started 12 years ago and thank his fans for bearing with that.

Fans loved Sky so much that when he retreated at the end of the one-hour gig, they went into a mad encore session! The ever-generous star obliged and belted Te Bie De Ai Gei Te Bie De Ni (Special Love For A Special You) and crooned his new hit Ceng Jin Ai Ni, Yong Yuan Ai Ni (Love You Once, Love You Always) that is already furiously climbing up the music chart.

Judging from the warm fanfare that Sky received not only from the concert but over the stretch of 12 years, he can certainly be assured that his fans would not explore new horizons... not when he is such a sincere and talented singer who treasures his fans in Singapore!
